Non Playing Character
A downloadable game
You are an NPC managing all the shops in the town. You have to make sure your customers don't get frustrated with your poor service otherwise they'll murder each other. Upgrade your town for better stuff.
Inn lets you bring customers to the next day.
Seer let's you stay in shadow world longer.
Jail decreases notoriety.
Bar makes everything better popularity notoriety and marketing.
Cool Emergent Gameplay Stuff:
- Murderers can kill each other and benefit the player
- You can lock a guest in place by talking to them, which you can use to either keep them in a shop, or if you know that a particular guest is wanting to go to places you don't have open yet, you can keep them from going there and getting frustrated.
- You can kill people from the shadow world. Maybe you could do this on purpose to prevent guests freaking out in a future release?
Things I couldn't do in the timeframe:
- Guests attacking the player
- Death animations
- Contextual information about each building in the game
- Resources beyond just money, and a quest board to have adventurers go and pick them up.
- More variety in the businesses you can own
- Using outfits and disguises for the main character. The idea was supposed to be that the guests/visitors/whatever I am calling them have no idea the town is run by a single person/creature. I was originally going to have manual switching between whatever roles.
- All my sounds broke and didn't have time to fix it.
- Better randomization than pure random. The game would flow a lot nicer if I had a more weighted random and limiting of repeat choices.
